Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT), Pune

Established in 2008 as a constituent of Symbiosis International University, SIT offers B.Tech programs in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, and Robotics and Automation.

With NBA-accredited programs and a NEP-2020-aligned curriculum, SIT emphasizes both fundamental principles and advanced technological knowledge. The institute boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, multimedia classrooms, well-equipped labs, high-end computing facilities, a modern library with digital resources, auditoriums, seminar halls, separate hostels for boys and girls, and extensive playgrounds.

Eligibility

The Institute has a very well-organized placement and training cell. The infrastructure in the placement cell includes a seminar hall for conducting pre-placement talks, discussion rooms, interview rooms and other necessary amenities. The cell has good associations with a large number of renowned companies who visit the institute for campus recruitments. All the students of the final year are prepared for campus interviews through special programmes on technical and soft skills, which would help them get prestigious jobs. SIT had a successful placement season with the participation of leading companies across sectors, offering coveted profiles to the students of B.Tech and M.Tech. Leading companies from a multitude of sectors participated in the final placements offering ‘sought-after’ profiles with competitive packages. The recruiter portfolio comprised a healthy mix of recruiters from IT sectors and fast growing start-ups. Further, few students, with their exceptional effort during their Internships and reputed corporate competitions were awarded PPOs (pre-placement offers) by highly coveted companies.

Year 2024-25 marked the presence of more than 170 companies which include a blend of IT companies, Consultancy firms, Manufacturing Units, Digital marketing firm, Edtech companies. PEDAGOGY (METHOD OF INSTRUCTION)

The Institute employs a very effective and interactive teaching-learning process using teaching aids including multimedia. Curriculum has been developed considering the present and future needs of industry and higher education. Teachers prepare detailed blow ups, lab manuals and course files to ensure the effectiveness of teaching-learning process. A salient feature of the curriculum is a six month project semester, totally devoted to carry out projects in industry. Students of all under-graduate programmes spend six months in the industry, other organizations, renowned institutions and universities, both in India and abroad, as a part of their curriculum. They are encouraged to take up projects in various areas of the industry to augment their theoretical learning. The emphasis during the ‘Project Semester’ is to expose the students to real life problems in their chosen field of work and finding their solutions, using a systematic and logical approach employing latest tools, techniques and technologies.

All students of SIT can opt for and qualify a special Diploma in Business Management from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, a premier Institute of Management in the country. This arrangement gives the students an insight into basic functions of management like marketing, finance, human resource and operations, in addition to polishing their communication and interpersonal skills. In an effort to create engineers with a multi–faceted skill set and global outlook, students are also encouraged to take courses in other departments under “Floating credits”. Under this scheme, an engineering student can pursue his interest in the fields of management, liberal arts, photography, etc along with his B. Tech Degree.

CAREER PROSPECTS

Students of SIT benefit from special programs like international semester exchange programs, entrepreneurship, liberal arts and soft skills aimed at developing all-round personalities. These programmes, along with rigorous technical education and regular interactions with industry through internships and projects, place them at a distinct advantage when they enter the job market. OR

Passed D.Voc. Stream in the same or allied sector. (The University will offer suitable bridge courses such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering drawing, etc., for students coming from diverse backgrounds to prepare Level playing field and desired learning outcomes of the programme).

B. Tech (Civil Engineering)

Passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects. Obtained at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of candidates belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.

  • Obtained at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in the above subjects taken together. Do not have to appear for entrance exam (SET/JEE-Main/Any State Government Engineering Entrance Examination) in India.

Infrastructure

Symbiosis Institute of Technology (SIT) is located at Lavale, Pune at the foot hills in Symbiosis Knowledge Village which also houses Symbiosis International University. The Institute possesses state-of-the-art infrastructure including spacious classrooms with multimedia, well-equipped laboratories, auditorium, seminar rooms, amphi-theatre, conference rooms, canteen and common rooms for students. The hostels are well-constructed & spacious with WiFi and all necessary amenities, playgrounds, gymnasium, facilities for indoor games like TT, squash, badminton, billiards and a food court, all with round the clock power supply.

Besides the well developed infrastructure, the pleasant weather of Pune makes stay on the campus, comfortable and conducive for learning.
