Symbiosis International (Deemed University) (SIU) follows a structured reservation policy for admissions to its undergraduate programmes offered through SET/SITEEE. The reservations apply to all institutes under SIU and are implemented as per University regulations and Government of India guidelines.
Reservation Within the Sanctioned Intake
As per the UGC guideline 2006, the reservation policy for all the institutes under the University is as follows:

- Candidates applying for any of the above-mentioned categories will be required to upload their relevant supporting documents at the time of registration and the same will be verified at the time of PI.
- Candidates applying under the category “Children/wards of Defence Personnel” in SICSR will be considered as candidates in OPEN Category for other institutes for which they have applied.
The definition for Children / Wards of Defence Personnel is:
The term Defence Personnel would mean only those serving / retired Defence personnel from Army, Navy, Air Force. Retired defence personnel are those who fall in the category of ex-servicemen as laid down in Ministry of Defence letter no 36035/5/85- Estt (SCT) dated 14 April 1987. It includes children of defence personnel who died while in service or after retirement.
The University also provides 5 % reservation within the sanctioned intake for Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel in Institutes as listed below: -
- Bachelor of Computer Applications - Honours / Honours with Research programme conducted by Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research (SICSR), Pune
- Bachelor of Business Administration (Information Technology) - Honours / Honours with Research programme conducted by Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research (SICSR), Pune

Persons with Disabilities (PwD) at SIU: (3% of seats within the sanctioned intake) In compliance to Government directives on disability guidelines issued by the office of the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities vide Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi notification no. 16-18/97 dated 01st June 2001 and University Grants Commission Notification No. F.6-1/2006 (CPP-II/SCT) dated 30/09/2009, SIU has made provision of reserving 3% seats for Persons with Disabilities (PwD)candidates in all the programmes offered by all the Institutes of SIU. Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidate means a candidate having any of the disabilities in accordance with the Persons with Disabilities Act – 1995 and as per revised Gazette of India Registered no: DL – (N)04/0007/2003-16 dated December 28, 2016.
Process to be followed for Persons with Disabilities (PwD):
- The candidate applying for the entrance tests/admission in the Persons with Disabilities (PwD) category selects the type of disability available in the PwD options on the portal.
- A Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidate is required to upload his/her Disability Certificate issued by a Competent Government Medical Authority and the Unique Disability ID (UD ID) Card at the time of registration for entrance/admission of SIU to ascertain the percentage and type of disability.
- The Medical Superintendent, SUHRC through the Medical Board shall verify the genuineness of the submitted documents. Once the documents are found authentic and correct by the Medical Board, SUHRC, his/her eligibility will be certified under the PwD category.
Note - If a candidate selects a Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in the Registration form and s/he requires scribe/writer facility please note SIU will not be providing scribe/writer. The candidate has to make her/his own arrangement for scribe/writer. The qualification of scribe/writer should be a maximum 9th standard candidate or a maximum 9th standard passed candidate (Or Appearing 10th Standard). The scribe should not have completed studies beyond the 9th standard. Candidate should send the request to info@set-test.org , on or before April 15,2026 (Wednesday) in case scribe/writer is required.
As per SIU norms, a Persons with Disabilities (PwD) is provided with 20 minutes of compensatory time for every 60 minutes of test.
- A candidate applying under any of the reserved categories (Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes/ Persons with Disabilities (PwD)/ Kashmiri Migrants/ Children/wards of Defence Personnel) is mandatorily required to upload and submit relevant documents issued by a competent authority. Any participation at any stage of the admission process by such candidate is purely provisional and subject to verification and authentication of such documents.
- In case a candidate falls under more than one of the above categories (e.g., Scheduled Caste as well as Persons with Disabilities (PwD) or any other combination), he/she must select any ONE category (i.e., either Scheduled Caste OR Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in the example mentioned) at the time of filling the registration form. The category selected by the candidate at the time of registration will be considered final for the entire admission process, and all benefits/entitlements will be based on the selected category. No claims for benefits under any other category will be entertained at any stage.
- Please note that if any information provided by the candidate regarding his/her category is found to be incorrect, the University reserves the right to cancel the candidature.
Reservation of seats for Nagpur Domicile (SCMS, Nagpur and SIT, Nagpur):
Reservation of seats for Nagpur Domicile (SCMS, Nagpur and SIT Nagpur) (25% of seats within the sanctioned intake- Only in case of Constituents at Off-Campus center, Nagpur)
In accordance with Clause A of Schedule C of the Lease Deed signed between Nagpur Municipal Corporation, Nagpur and Symbiosis, Pune on 4th September, 2017, the University has reserved 25% seats against the approved intake in each programme offered at the Off-campus Centre of the University at Nagpur for Nagpur Domiciled candidates.
The definition for Nagpur Domicile is:
Nagpur Domiciled' means candidates, who are domiciled in Nagpur for a period of 5(five) years as on the date of commencement of the academic year and who (a) are or will be graduates or students of Nagpur University, and/ or (b) are recipients of school certificates from the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, the Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations, and/ or the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)/ ICSE Board.
While giving admission under the Nagpur domicile category-
- Residence Criterion: Resident of Nagpur Urban (five continuous or intermittent years) is mandatory.
- Educational Criterion: The candidate should fulfil one of the following criteria.
(a) graduate or pursuing graduation from Nagpur University
OR
(b) school certificates (10th and 12th) from (i) Maharashtra Board, (ii) CISCE (iii) CBSE, (iv) ICSE (It simply means 10th and 12th passed certificates from other State Boards and foreign school boards are NOT accepted)
Please bring/keep the following documents with you for the Personal Interview (PI) if you are shortlisted. Kindly note that candidates who fail to present both documents will not be permitted to participate in the PI process and will be deemed ineligible for admission. No correspondence on this matter will be entertained.
