SET/SITEEE 2026 – Admission Criteria for Children/Wards of Defence Personnel

Candidates applying under the Defence Personnel category for SET/SITEEE 2026 must fulfil the academic eligibility requirements and submit the mandatory documentation as prescribed by Symbiosis International (Deemed University). The guidelines below outline eligibility, documentation norms, and verification procedures applicable across all Symbiosis institutes offering undergraduate programmes.

The definition for Children / Wards of Defence Personnel is:

Children / Wards of Defence personnel means children/ wards of those Defence Personnel who are serving / retired Defence personnel from Army, Navy, Air Force. Retired Defence personnel are those who fall in the category of ex-servicemen as laid down in Ministry of Defence letter no. 36035/5/85- Est (SCT) dated 14 April 1987. It also includes children of Defence personnel, who died while in service or after retirement

The University provides 5 % reservation within the sanctioned intake for Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel in Constituents as listed below:-

  1. Bachelor of Computer Applications - Honours / Honours with Research programme conducted by Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR), Pune
  2. Bachelor of Business Administration (Information Technology) - Honours / Honours with Research programme conducted by Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies & Research (SICSR), Pune

Note: A candidate who is interested to apply under the category “Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel” for any of the abovementioned programmes, should select the category “Children/ Wards of Defence Personnel” for each programme separately.

* The definition for Defence Personnel is:

The term Defence Personnel would mean only those serving / retired Defence personnel from Army, Navy, Air Force. Retired defence personnel are those who fall in the category of ex-servicemen as laid down in Ministry of Defence letter no 36035/5/85- Estt (SCT) dated 14 April 1987. It includes defence personnel who died while in service or after retirement.

Note:

  • Candidates applying for any of the above-mentioned categories will be required to upload their relevant supporting documents at the time of registration and the same will be verified at the time of PI.
  • Candidates applying under the category “Children/wards of Defence Personnel” in SICSR will be considered as candidates in OPEN Category for other institutes for which they have applied.
  1. A candidate applying under any of the reserved category (Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes/ Person with Disabilities (PwD)/ Kashmiri Migrants/ Children/wards of Defence Personnel) is mandatorily required to upload and submit relevant documents issued by a competent authority. Any participation at any stage of the admission process by such candidate is purely provisional and always subject to verification and authentication of such relevant documents.
  2. In case a candidate falls under more than one of the above categories (e.g. Scheduled Caste as well as Persons with Disabilities (PwD) or any other combination), he/she must select any one category (i.e., either Scheduled Caste OR Persons with Disabilities (PwD) in the example mentioned) at the time of filling the registration form. The category selected at the time of registration will be considered final for the entire admission process, and all benefits/entitlements will be based on that selected category. No claim for benefits under any other category will be accepted at any stage.
  3. Please note that if any information provided by the candidate regarding his/her category is found to be incorrect, the University reserves the right to cancel the candidature.
