Infrastructure / facilities - Hostel, Library, Lab, Canteen, Club etc.
Hostel facilities
SICSR has limited hostel facilities for girls and boys, and maintains a database of external PG accommodation for the students, if needed.
If a student is interested in the hostel accommodation, he/she is required to submit an application in writing after taking admission.
Modern Amenities:
The amenities given to the students include well-equipped labs / library / classrooms equipped with latest teaching aids.
The computer labs are designed according to the needs of the different programmes.
Lab :
Being an IT based Institute, the computer labs have been given special attention, and are designed to meet the computing and communication needs of the Institute.
For gaining wide ranging experience, a wide variety of hardware and software platforms are provided for the students. The entire architecture of over 200+ computers, equipped with latest microsoft and Linux Operating Systems, is controlled by six powerful servers (two IBM 235 Xeon Servers, an HP Proliant DL 360 G4 Server, and two HP ML-350 Server and an IBM Blade Server), which utilize networking and database utilities of SQL and Oracle 10g.
The labs are equipped with dedicated Internet facility, email access and Laser printers.
All the machines are grouped into seven VLANs, out of which six are shared by the desktop computers, and the remaining one is used by the WLAN clients. The WLAN setup is well secured and integrated with the existing windows ADS.
At the core of this network is the AVAYA Extreme L3 and L2 manageable switches are used. All the machines are connected to a 10/100/1000 MBPS network. The labs have a well-designed Network with Structured Cabling. 24x7 Internet connectivity is managed through two leased lines with data transfer rates of 4MBPS and 2 MBPS respectively.
The Institute boasts of seven state of the art labs meant for academic requirements such as:
- Electronics lab for digital electronics courses and embedded systems.
- edicated labs (two each) for Bachelor's and Master's Degree Programmes.
Library
Libraries are the treasure houses of information.
The SICSR library is equipped with a barcode system for maintaining records, the library boasts of the presence of over 65 journals - technical and non-technical, Indian as well as foreign, and more than 5000 separate titles. The regular up-gradation of library, which stocks more than 14,000 books, is done through over 900-1000 procurements each year. The students also have access to audio-video cassettes and CD-ROMs. Library has institutional membership of BCL, ILA, and IASLIC.

Note:
If there are not enough candidates qualifying for the admission under any reserved category, the vacant seats will be transferred to 'open' category after approval from SIU.
