Introduction

Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) is a proud member of the prestigious Symbiosis International University (SIU). A pioneer in the field of Health education, SIHS has conceptualized & implemented a group of professional up-gradation programmes meant to equip the healthcare professional with the appropriate tools in order to survive this age of fierce competition and specialization. Besides having excellent faculty for the didactic component, hands on practical training for all programmes is provided at leading tertiary care hospitals of the city.

Infrastructure Facilities
 
  • Health care & Health club facilities : The Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC) is the in-house Health Care unit exclusive to students. The SCHC has a team of specialist doctors who conduct the (compulsory) annual check up. Out patient treatment is provided to the students by the medical officers of SCHC.
  • Medical Insurance: Medi-Claim and Road Traffic Accident Policy.
  • Health and Fitness Centre: The SCHC also provides an in-house, modern health and fitness centre with a view to facilitate a holistic development of mind and body for an all round development of out students.
  • Auditorium: The in-house facilities include a 600 seater modern auditorium and a modern conference hall at Vishwabhavan
  • Classrooms: Lecture classrooms are well equipped with the latest audio visual facilities
  • Library: All students will be provided library facilities consisting of relevant course material, reference books, CDs etc.
  • Placement Cell: SIHS Placement Cell will assist all students to obtain employment in respective industries
  • Multi Cuisine Cafeteria: An all day Cafeteria ensures refreshments for the busy minds
  • Recreation Facilities: State-of-the-art swimming pool for a healthy body, mind and soul

Programme Offered

B.Sc. Medical Technology Programme:

Specializations:

  • Cardiac Care Technology: The Cardiac Care Technologist is responsible for direct and indirect patient care, haemo-dynamic monitoring, equipment set up and operation. They assist the physician during cardiac procedures and assume responsibility for completion of other cath lab functions as assigned.
  • Respiratory Care Technology: The Respiratory Care Technologist is a key member of the medical team, specializing in diagnostics, treatments, and procedures in the care of patients with respiratory problems. They evaluate, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders.
  • Dialysis Technology: Dialysis Technologists operate machines that remove waste and excess fluids from the blood of patients whose kidneys can no longer carry out those functions. The programme is designed to provide the student with a comprehensive introduction to the field of dialysis and the skills required for entry-level employments as a Dialysis technologist.
  • Imaging Sciences Technology: Imaging Sciences Technologists are health professionals who facilitate diagnosis and management through the creation of medical imaging using X-rays, ultrasound and magnetic resonance. They work in collaboration with radiologists and specialist medical practitioners to provide patients with a range of diagnostic examinations.
  • Clinical Medical Lab. Technology: Medical Lab. Technology is concerned with the analysis of biological specimens to support diagnosis, treatment of disease. The programme introduces students to Pathology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology, Immunology, Molecular Biology etc. which remain the mainstay in diagnosis.

Career Prospects

The demand for professionals who can provide diagnostic services has been growing at a much faster pace than the number being trained every year. Advanced complex instrumentation & equipment require well-trained technocrats with a strong scientific foundation. Thereby making Medical Technology both a challenging and rewarding career. Students can pick up global careers in hospitals, healthcare & diagnostic sectors, research and biotechnology as also lab information system as technologists & application specialists in equipment organizations from the very day they complete the programme successfully.

 
 

Eligibility:

Std. XII Pass with any two of the following:

Physics / Chemistry / Biology / Botany / Zoology / Biochemistry / Microbiology / Mathematics Or

Equivalent decided by competent authority.

OR

The 2-year Pre University examination or equivalent as recognized by Symbiosis International University with Physics, Chemistry & Biology as principal subjects of study.

OR

Pre degree course from recognized University (2 years after ten years of schooling) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principal subjects of study.

OR

Any equivalent examination recognized by the SIU for the above purpose with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as principal subjects of study.

OR

Pre university vocational course from a recognized Board with any of the specialization subjects as vocational subject.
