Introduction

SCMS (UG) formerly introduced as Symbiosis BBA has sent out into the corporate world, its first batch of students. The second batch will join them soon. The course was formally inaugurated on July 12, 2004 in a grand ceremony and what followed was a journey of discovery, excitement and activities that has taken us one step ahead in our continuous quest for excellence.

Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies (Undergraduate) will be a globally respected institute that lays a strong foundation in management education thereby developing managers who are committed to excellence in their chosen path without compromising on moral values.

thus transforming them into socially responsible managers and leaders.

 
Facilities

The state-of-art infrastructure includes well-equipped spacious lecture halls, an ultra modern auditorium, a well-stocked library; Wi-Fi enabled campus, Computer laboratory, a well-equipped Gymnasium, yoga hall, aerobics hall and new sports facilities. Limited hostel accommodation (while preference will be given to International students and outstation students, the same cannot be assured to all) is also available. The campus has a canteen that serves a variety of snacks and a mess that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
 
   
Programmes Offered
 

Presently the institute offers only one programme i.e. the Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA). However, a student has five streams to choose from. The first year will be common to all students. Thereafter students may choose from the following streams:

  1. Corporate Management
  2. Accounting & Finance
  3. International Business
  4. Tourism Management
  5. Environment Management

We empower our students with a sound knowledge base and provide an environment that is conducive to learning.

Eligibility for admission
 

a. XII pass from any branch with minimum 50% marks for general category and 45% for students of SC and ST category.

b. Qualifying the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET)

Indian students will be admitted on the basis of a merit list drawn out of the results of the entrance test subject to scoring the minimum marks as mentioned above in Std. XII.

Pattern of the programme: We follow the semester pattern with two semesters in each year.

Medium of Instruction for the programme shall be English.

Methods of Instruction: Lectures, Industrial visits, Case studies, and Project work and field trips wherever necessary.

Career Prospects : After completing the course the students can pursue higher education in any of the premier management institutes in India or any of the foreign universities. Our students are presently pursuing their post graduate courses in London School of Economics, St Andrews University, University of Melbourne, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development, S.P Jain Institute for Business Management, NMIMS, IMT MICA etc. Those who opted to gain work experience before pursuing higher education got placed with Ernst & Young, KPMG, HSBC, E Value Serve, Leo Burnett, Bajaj Allianz, Mak Media, Grow Talent, Syntel etc

Placement: A placement cell has been set up to assist the students in getting placed in the corporate sector. However, students may please note that placement is a facilitating activity of the centre and students may not take this for granted. Only students who fulfill the quality standards set by the centre will be permitted to apply for placements through this cell.

Reservation of seats for Special Categories

The following are the reservation rules that shall be followed while admitting Indian students:

  1. Scheduled Caste: 15% (of 240)
  2. Scheduled Tribe: 7.5% (of 240)
  3. Handicapped students: 3% (of 240)
  4. Management Quota: 15% (of 240)
  5. Armed Forces dependants: 5% (of 240)
  6. Kashmiri migrants: 2 over and above the course intake.
